Theodore Roosevelt Whitfield was born on February 8th 1902 in Kinston. He was the first son of Ed Whitfield and Mary Mewborne. He married Lugene Ellen Green and had one child that we know about Vantile Emmanuel Whitfield. Vantile was born in Washington DC in 1930. Theodore later became Rev. Theodore R. Whitfield and married Elizabeth Wyatt Gore on May 22nd, 1954. Theodore passed away on May 10th, 1971 in Chicago, just weeks before his wedding anniversary.

REV. THEODORE ROOSEVELT WHITFIELD was born February 8, 1902 in Kinston, N.C., where her received his early education.
He left Kinston and traveled east to Washington, D.C. where he attended Howard University. Later he went to Massachusetts and entered Harvard School of Arts and Sciences and Education in Cambridge where her received his Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Through a previous he became the father of one child, Vantile Whitfield.
He attended Boston College of Theology and Missions where he took some postgraduate courses. He later entered Harvard University Divinity School where her received his Degree of Bachelor of Sacred Theology.
Rev. Whitfield was ordained as a minister in the Baptist Church. It was while he was in Chicago on a mission for the Church Federation that he met Elizabeth Gore. They were united in Holy wedlock May 22, 1954. This union lasted until his death.
In 1963 under Bishop M.W. Clair, Jr., Rev. Whitfield received his Recognition of Orders as a Local Deacon in the Lexington Annual Conference of the Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. He became a member of Kelly Methodist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Simon P. Jenkins where he served as a faithful and loyal worker.
He was the founder of the Whitfield Historical and Literary Bible Society. The purpose of this Society was to help students in the literary and historical aspects of the Bible as well as the religious. This organization is still alive and functioning.
He was currently serving, along with Rev. Clyde Allison of the Emerald Avenue Presbyterian Church, as a community leader of the School Council of the Banneker Elementary School, Miss Margaret Junker, Principal.
He was sincerely dedicated to his work of education, and uplifting his people and all others.
Rev. Whitfield departed his life about 12:00 noon May 10, 1971.
He leaves to morn his
loss a loving wife, a son, Mr. Vantile
Whitfield, Washington, D.C.; a step son, Mr. Julius Gore, of Chicago;
a step daughter, Mrs. Elaine Warren, of Chicago; 12 grandchildren, 1 great
grandchild, 10 nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of admiring
friends.
