Bryant Whitfield was born in 1880 in Kinston North Carolina. From what we know he was the second to the youngest of the 9 children by Alex Whitfield and Margaret Croom. Bryant married Virginia Foushee and had 4 children (Ruth, Eunice, Thomas and Walter B.) that we know about. Bryant Whitfield died where he was born 1952.
Ruth Whitfield married Lawrence Taylor July 27, 1921 in Kinston. They had four kids John, Earl, Jerry, Margaret, Allowicious and Tyrone.
Eunice Whitfield was born on October 4 1904 later became Eunice W. Collie. The name of Eunice's husband is unknown at this time. Eunice passed away on September 22nd 1984.
We currently have no information on what happened to Thomas Whitfield.
Walter B. Whitfield was born on April 14,1919 in Kinston. Walter married Christie B. Davis. Walter died on January 24,1973 in Kinston.
We are currently looking for living descendants in the Alex Whitfield line. At this time we don't have much information, however we are still conducting research in an effort to find out more.
 On a recent visit to Kinston, North Carolina, Johnny Redding a cousin of the Whitfield family stated that this house (pictured above) was the Homestead of Bryant Whitfield and his family. This photo was shot in August of 2004, and as you can see the property has become dilapidated and run down. I'm sure it will be torn down soon unless someone buys it and restores it. |
